Last night I rigged up a monitor to this out and had a full dedicated separate mix with Solo in Place only on that output and it's own level control which made mixing from behind the rig a doddle. I loved this one: It's also a studio desk so it has a control room out. The GEQ's do the job very well for ringing out monitors, I had no real issues last night apart from an overly loud guitarist screwing up the monitor dynamic ( not a lot you can do about that to be honest ) I'd even go as far as to say you can hear the Midas and Klark Teknik heritage in this thing. It's clean, it's got nice headroom, and you can get a great ballsy vocal sound and pretty heavy bass going here no problem. I don't know how Behringer have done this for the money, but. I'd say it's easily on par with the Allan and Heath iLive. Yamaha must be shitting themselves here because this thing sounds pretty damn good for the money. IMO it kicks the shit out of the LS9 and M7CL which to me both sound like mixing in a shoe box. Food for thought there for any PA company looking to invest. It's also £24,000 cheaper than a Digico SD9.

The pre-amps and overal sound: Right, this ain't no Midas ( and for direct comparison let's use the Pro 2 ) but it's a £2000 desk compared to a £16,000 one i.e. You can assign an FX parameter to a dedicated bank of buttons too, complete with it's own colour and pretty icon. Nice reverbs that cuts through the mix, delays are fine ( you can assign tap no problem ) chorus is OK and that's all I really use to be honest so all good there.

The pretty pictures and colours: At first I thought "meh, what do I need that shit for?" But to be honest once it's programmed in it becomes pretty damn useful to see little icons of all your instruments and you can colour match anything to anything so, although not really necessary, a nice bonus. Coming across one as a touring engineer that's already been set up you're going to have no issues what so ever here. From a mix point of view if you know digital desks you can learn this thing pretty much inside out in an hour.

Monitors can be flipped to faders, as can FX, DCA's are easily assignable, so are mute groups. ) has a dedicated view button that takes you straight to the screen you want to see you've got all the usual suspect in there HPF, phase reverse, 48v phantom, gate, comp blah blah blah. The GUI is a piece of piss to learn, everything is accessible and it's pretty intuitive, the routing is so damn easy it's a joke ( where a lot of digital desks fall down ) and every section ( ex, inserts, FX etc. It ain't cheap plastic that's for sure and should last a good few years going out on small jobs. The buttons are solid, the encoders have a nice feel, the faders travel well.

No biggie.īuild quality: OK, it's built well, in fact very well, it doesn't feel cheap at all. Not the best mix environment, but one you have to do now and again. The scenario: monitors and FOH from the side of the stage and behind the rig. Now I know there's a load of Behringer bias here and to be honest I personally think a lot of their gear fucking sucks, but that aside this is my honest opinion of using this desk in a practical situation. just about every digital live desk going. OK, for anyone who knows me here I do loads of festivals in the UK and around the world so I'm pretty much savvy on everything from Digico, Soundcraft, Midas, Allen and Heath, Yamaha etc. Don't break my balls on the guitar mic placement here, someone forgot to order the short stands. A PA company owning mate of mine has just bought himself a Behringer X32 and I got to use one for the first time last night. So, I've finished the festivals for the year and gone into corporate engineering world for a few months. r/broadcastengineering - Broadcast Engineering.r/projection_mapping - Projection Mapping. You might find these other subreddits useful: These rules are implemented at the moderators' discretion.
